Praise God

Praise God the judge showed up for Anjela's 1st adoption hearing today and all went very well!! God truly answered our (and many many others) prayers.

We were even given our next and hopefully final court date for March 12th, which is much sooner than we expected! All glory to God...please join us now in praying for the 12th.

1st Adoption Hearing Update

To our dear friends and all who have been fervently praying for us these last 24 hours or more, thank you for your prayers! We just wanted to give you a little update on the first hearing for Anjela's adoption and ask you to continue to be on your knees for us.

A short summary is...we all showed up at the Kenya High Court in Mombasa at 8am, waited 3 hours, just to be told by our lawyer, "Pole sana (so sorry), the judge is not coming to work today, you'll have to return on Monday" :)

So you might ask....Were we a little frustrated and disappointed when we were told the judge decided she had some other personal business she needed to do today? The answer is YES, but were we surprised? NOPE....its Kenya and you just never know whats going to happen. Its just so typical to be told to come back another day, and yes even after you have spent lots of time waiting, canceling plans, work,and the money to drive there, stay overnight in town etc. etc. But they don't think about that. So what do we do???

Well, it keeps us on our knees and as I was reminded by 2 dear friends today, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10)

So pray now that we will not be discouraged and that God will give us the grace to be still and trust that He has a plan in all of this. He is fighting for us and has carried us through these last 1 1/2 years of waiting and we trust He will continue to carry us through!

Please also pray that Monday the judge will show up and that we will find favor in the eyes of the officials involved.

Adoption Reminder

Dear friends and Prayer Partners,

This is just a quick reminder to pray for God's favor on Anjela's first adoption hearing tomorrow (Friday 19th). We are leaving this morning (Thursday 18th) to go meet with the lawyer so he can brief us on what we need to have and do tomorrow during the hearing.

Please remember the following verses as you pray for us:

Eph 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, Eph 3:21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Isa 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isa 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever,for the LORD, the LORD, is the Rock eternal.

Isa 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.He will not grow tired or weary,and his understanding no one can fathom. Isa 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isa 40:30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; Isa 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Ps 125:1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. Ps 125:2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.

Prayer Requests

01.22.2009 January Prayer Requests: Omondi Personal Requests:

  1. Pray for the completion of the adoption process of Anjela which should be completed this month. We are waiting for adoption agency to call us to go to court. Pray then that we will have no problems getting passport and Visa for Anjela so we can bring her to the States with us later this year.
  2. Pray for our desire for biological children as well..that God would open Allison's womb in His perfect timing:) and for our patience as we wait on Him.
  3. That our family would grow in the knowledge and love of Christ.
Kenya Team Requests:
  1. Praise God for providing Kenyan Nationals, James and Jacinta Muthee to our team.
  2. Pray for the provision of funds to be able to pay James & Jacinta and Elly and & Amina
  3. Pray for Dennis and Moses as we lead the Word of Life Fellowship Church for God to give us wisdom beyond our age and intelligence.

10.21.2008 October/November Prayer Requests: 1-Pray that Allison will receive her dependant/resident pass from the Kenyan government quickly! We applied back in May and everytime we call or go to Nairobi to search for it immigration gives some excuse why its not finished. She needs this identification card in order to remain in the country legally. We also need this in hand in order to continue in the adoption process of Anjela.

2-Please pray that the process for adopting Anjela over these next few months will go smoothly and quickly. Pray we will find favor in the eyes of the courts and those in the entire process.

3-Our long time househelper and friend, Ruth suddenly stopped working for us. Pray we will find a new, faithful and trustworthy househelper that we feel comfortable having in our home on a day to day basis.

Team Requests:

1-Pray for our health and adjustment to the extreme heat/humidity that is starting now and will continue til next April.

2-Pray for Word of Life Fellowship Church. Pray for the growth of the discipleship process that is beginning to form. Pray for Jill as she heads up a single ladies ministry and Allison as she partners with Juddy to lead a married ladies Bible Study at the church. Pray for Dennis as he leads and shepherds the flock at WOLF, that he will stand strong and preach God's word boldly and truthfully despite any opposition or "tickling ears" that only want to hear what they want to hear.

3-Pray for the new BTCP class that has started in Ujamaa. Pray that the students will be faithful to the end and that God would strengthen and give wisdom to Dennis and Elly as they teach.

08.29.2008 Aug-Sept Prayers:

  • Praise God with us that both the Omondis and Jill have found new places to live in Ukunda close to Word of Life Church. Pray for the team as we move and adjust to the new environment/town we will be living in
  • Pray that we would establish good new relationships in our community with our hearts always open to sharing Christ with those we meet.
  • Pray for Dennis and the church leaders as they lead/guide and helps to give new vision/direction to the WOL church.
  • Give thanks to God for little Anjela as we will be celebrating her one year birthday on Sept 23. Continue to pray for us as we pursue the best way to make her our legal daughter, either through legal guardianship or adoption.
  • Pray for our family and especially for Allison she keeps falling sick so often. She is currently sick. I took her to be tested for Malaria tonight and she is was found to be negative - praise God for that with us. I know that our enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, please pray that we will be self-controlled and alert. The place we are moving to is one of his strongholds and we pray that the little oppositions we face daily will not deter us from Keeping the main thing the main thing!
  • Pray that our moving will go smoothly especially with Allison not feeling well and all of us being tired from traveling; Pray also that our new house will quickly become a home.

06.17.2008 June Prayer Need:

  1. Allison has been sick quite a bit since we've been in Kenya. Please pray that our family would be protected from illness and malaria during this rainy season. And pray that the Lord will provide us with endurance and strength during this busy few months.
  2. Also pray that the Lord will provide a new place for us to live in Ukunda/Diani area. We want to move by August but havent found a good place yet.

02.28.2008 Prayer requests as we get ready to return to Kenya: -Praise God with us that we very close to being at 100% of our monthly support we need to return to Kenya! We trust God that the small remaining will come in quickly. -Pray for us as we say good bye to our friends and family here in the States. Its always an exciting time to be going back but hard time emotionally to leave those we love behind. -Pray that all the logistics of packing up and wrapping things up in the States will go smoothly -Pray for our marriage, that even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of transitioning back to Kenya, that our first ministry would be to each other, and that our lives would be centered on Christ!

02.25.2008 February/March Prayer Request:

Pray for KENYA!! That the violence and killings would stop and that the politicians would come to an agreement about the running of the government. Pray against tribalism. Pray that the Christians would stand up and BE CHRISTIANS and that they would have love and show love that reaches across tribal lines.

Praise God with us that we are almost at 100% of our monthly support we need to return to Kenya!

Pray for us as we say good bye to our friends and family here in the States. Its always an exciting time to be going back but hard time emotionally to leave those we love behind.

Pray that all the logistics of packing up and wrapping things up in the States will go smoothly

Pray for our marriage, that even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of transitioning back to Kenya, that our first ministry would be to each other, and that our lives would be centered on Christ!

01.30.2008 Praying for Kenya :

Please join us in fervent prayer that peace and order would be restored in Kenya.

Pray that political leaders would put aside their own interests to help stop the violence and provide for the needs of the people.

Pray that calls for unity and peace would overrule deeply rooted tribal hatred.

Pray that Christians would stand up for what is right and continue to reach out to those who are in need.

01.29.2008 Prayer for Kenya:

The Violence in Kenya has not ceased or become any better. It is open tribal revenge killings going on in some parts of Kenya. These killings are sparking more killings around the country and just this last weekend 150 people died in Naivasha and Nakuru alone!

The Killing of one of the Opposition MPs in Nairobi last night has not helped the matter very much either. So as we look helplessly from a distance to what is happening in our beloved country all we can do is pray that the Lord will intervene and lasting peace will come to Kenya soon. Please Pray with us for Kenya!

This morning as I read the Bible these verses ministered to my heart and I know that even though it does not seem like God is in control I know He is! And he hears our GROANS and is concerned about us and our Country Kenya!

Exodus 2:23 - 25 ...The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
