They Say it's Your Birthday
One of my Russian friends invited me to help him celebrate his birthday this Friday. In Russia, the one celebrating his birthday has to throw the party and they go to great lengths, sometimes even borrowing money, just to make their friends have a memorable time. My friend treated us to dinner and entertainment at a place that I can only describe as the Russian version of Dave and Busters. Well not to be undone, this weekend for my birthday I hosted a huge grill-out at my house. It was quite of bit of work lugging 14lbs of ground beef, among other things, the four blocks from the local grocery store, but it was worth it. My Russian friends were quite impressed with the real American hamburgers that I cooked and, I must admit, I actually enjoyed doing something to make sure that others could enjoy my special day with me. Be praying that I enjoy the time I have left with my friends here and that Im stay faithful with language classes that are quickly winding down.
