Refugee Ministry
As promised, I want to share with you about the refugee ministry in Austria. I was there with James C., a Serve missionary to Austria. We worked for a week in a mission house outside of Vienna which ministers to hundreds of refugees every year. Many refugees come to Austria with only the clothes on their backs. They are not allowed to work until they get asylum, which often takes months! We spent our time passing out clothes, serving coffee, and sometimes simply talking to the refugees in order to minister to them in this difficult time in their lives. I was really surprised to be able to use my Russian so much, but I discovered there were many refugees from Chechnya and I spent a lot of my time talking with them. It was a neat opportunity and I really hope that Russ will continue working with that ministry.
