Off the bench
I played football for the first time in a long time yesterday. It was great fun. I enjoyed it all; the nerves before the game, running all over the field, falling down , batting down passes, tackling my roommate, but I have to tell you I am sore all over today. I'm not totally out of shape, I hit the gym every week, but my body has not had that much of a workout in a long time.
I'm also starting to teach for the first time in a long time. It has been great fun. I enjoy preparing icebreakers for my small group, digging deeper in God's word, planning meetings, and outlining lessons. I have to tell you though, I'm pretty nervous today. I will be leaving in a few hours to go and teach Bible study methods to a group of pastors tomorrow. It will be my first BTCP teaching trip. This has been a long time coming and I've prepared hard for this, but I have more butterflies than I ever had before any football game. To be honest, I have even found myself doubting my calling, afraid that I will fail at this, or something. God reminded me the other day of His sovereignty, however, and I realized that He sovereignly guided me here to Russia for this time, but He even sovereignly chose me to teach this week and I find comfort in that knowledge. Please be praying for my class this week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also be praying for my small group, particularly that God would raise up someone that might co lead it with me.
