Second Year

As I round out my first year on the field I and my team have been looking hard at the goals of our mission here in Russia. One of the major goals is to speak to the hearts of the people to whom we minister. We realize that to do this we need to be able to speak Russian very well. After a year of language school I am surprised and encouraged by what I am able to do in the language. I remember feeling so helpless when I first got here and now I am able to get around with less effort. Even though, according to my instructors, our class is progressing very well and I have made great strides in a language that is rated level 3 out of 4 in difficulty according to the Dept. of Defense’s Language Institute, I am still not to the level of language that would allow me to minister to the Russian heart. That is why, with the blessing of our home office and our team leader, we have decided to stay and finish out the second year of language school in Krasnodar. I will continue to serve our in our short term projects as well as minister here in Krasnodar until I am finished with school in the fall of 2005 and join my team in Moscow.
